ANKARA (Sputnik) — The clashes have escalated in recent days close the Turkish border village of Bayırbucak, in Syria's Yamadi village in the province of Latakia, forcing people, mostly women, children and the elderly, to flee on January 29-30, the government agency said in a statement.

The refugees have been resettled either at their relatives' or in mobile refugee camps in the Turkish provinces of Hatay, Gaziantep and Sanlıurfa, according to the authorities.
The Turkish authorities have provided the refugees with emergency assistance and necessary food aid, AFAD said.
Turkey borders Iraq and Syria, which are both suffering from jihadists' activities, particularly the Daesh militant group, outlawed in many countries, including Russia.
Turkey is now sheltering over 2 million Syrian refugees, which is the greatest proportion among the countries resettling Syria's displaced people.
