GENEVA (Sputnik) — On Saturday, the Syrian opposition also confirmed readiness to meet the UN envoy on Sunday at 17:00 local time. The delegation comprising eight members and headed by High Negotiations Committee (HNC) chief negotiator Asaad Zoubi will represent the Riyadh-formed group.
"We are waiting for a confirmation from the opposition delegation that they are ready to meet with de Mistura at 5 p.m. today at the United Nations," Mattar said.
At the same time, the delegation of the Syrian government told Sputnik they were not planning any contacts with de Mistura on Sunday so far.
Mattar added that on Monday, February 1, the talks may start between the government delegation and the opposition.
