A Delta Airlines Boeing 757, flying from Los Angeles was enroute to Minneapolis when the captain decided to divert the aircraft to Salt Lake City because, as he told air traffic control, he wanted “to hear from his flight attendants.
The Aviation Herald reported that the two female flight attendants were in a disagreement over work issues and engaged in a fist fight at which point a third attendant tried to calm them down but was hit by “flying fists,” according to Aviation Herald.
The plane’s purser informed the flight deck and the captain then decided to divert the flight.
The aircraft stayed on the ground in Salt Lake City for about 80 minutes, then continued on to Minneapolis arriving 75 minutes behind schedule
The airline issued an apology to passengers and the public through a statement.
"Some of our team members did not display their best behavior,” the airline wrote. “We expect our flight crew to be nothing but courteous and professional at all times and what you experienced was far from that. I am sorry we didn’t deliver on our brand promise for you today."
