MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Montenegro supported the EU and US sanctions against Russia back in 2014.
"We are deeply disappointed by the fact that Montenegro has joined the so-called anti-Russian sanctions, actually illegal actions, and, of course, it causes serious damage to our relations in practically all areas," Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin said at a meeting with a delegation from the Montenegrin Democratic Bloc.
The current Russian-Montenegrin relations are experiencing a difficult period, which happened not on the Moscow initiative, he added.
Montenegro is currently seeking a quicker EU integration and accession to NATO, which prompts the country to support Washington and Brussels’ official stance on anti-Russia sanctions.
