"Europe keeps talking about freedoms. But we ascertain that this freedom is a mere empty sound, as those who oppose either European institutions or the vision and single-mindedness governing these institutions do not have a right to this freedom. For them, freedom is to think what everyone else thinks. This is managed freedom, used solely for propaganda purposes," Schaffhauser said.
Millions of people are suffering because foreign states, including the United States, are bent on destabilizing Europe, Schaffhauser said, adding that Ukraine has failed in terms of the rule of law and democracy.
"Like never before we must strive for unity in Europe, uniting civilizations and cultures and treating Ukraine not as a fracture, but as a bridge. We also need Russia more than ever before in the Europe of Christian civilizations," he said.
Schaffhauser praised the French Canal+ television channel's decision to air the "Masks of Revolution" documentary on events in Ukraine in 2014 as a courageous step in countering EU dogmas.
The film, which aired on Monday, covered the involvement of far-right extremists in the ousting of Ukraine's democratically elected President Viktor Yanukovych in February 2014 as well as the May 2 Odessa massacre of anti-government protesters.
