US Presidential Hopeful Sanders to Focus Campaign More on Seniors’ Issues

US Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sander said that he is going to focus on issues of seniors, because he managed to attract only 29 percent of seniors in emocratic Iowa caucus.

Clinton Fails to Make Sanders Democratic ‘Sacrificial Lamb’
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders said in an interview on Wednesday that he intends to pay more attention to problems of senior citizens in his campaign in order to gain their support.

"We are going to focus on senior issues and I think you will see us do a lot better in that age category," Sanders said in an interview with MSNBC.

On Monday, the results of Democratic Iowa caucus showed that Sanders gained support of 80 percent of young people. Nevertheless, his message managed to attract only 29 percent of seniors, according to media reports.

Sanders: Congress Not in Tune With 'Radical Ideas' of Ordinary Americans
During the interview, Sanders also confirmed that he will participate in a Thursday debate with former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

On Tuesday, Sanders campaign official Tad Devine said the Vermont senator could refuse to take part in the event, if Clinton does not accept his conditions for future debates.
