YEKATERINBURG (Sputnik) — Ural Works of Civil Aviation (UWCA) in 2017 will begin assembling Airbus Helicopters' light aircraft the H135, including the engine it will be fitted with, the department of information policy of the governor of Sverdlovsk Region said Thursday.
Last month, UWCA and Airbus signed a licensing agreement for the production of the helicopters in Russia. The document was signed at the Russian-French Economic, Financial, Industrial and Trade Council (CEFIC) meeting in Moscow on January 25.
"The implementation of the agreement is scheduled to begin in 2017 with production of four H135 Airbus Helicopters," the statement reads.
The H135 is the latest modification of the EC135 light helicopter, which was first produced in 1996. At the moment, the helicopter is widely used in emergency medical evacuation tasks and other state and commercial aviation missions.
