LONDON (Sputnik) – Earlier in the day, the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD) ruled in a majority decision that Assange is being detained arbitrarily.
"He will take part in the press conference via video link," the source told RIA Novosti adding that Assange will be participating in the press conference from the Embassy.
The press conference in expected to begin at 12:00 GMT.
The WikiLeaks founder has been residing at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London since 2012 out of fear of being extradited, first to Sweden where he has been accused of sexual assault, and ultimately to the United States where he could face espionage charges for publishing secret documents through his website.
On September 12, 2014, Assange submitted a complaint against London and Stockholm to the WGAD, which is under UN human right office's purview.
