MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian parliamentary speaker Sergei Naryshkin said Friday he assessed his late January visit to Egypt positively and saw much potential for cooperation with this country.
"I can assess the results of this visit as quite positive. There was open dialogue with our colleagues – Egyptian parliamentarians and the country’s president on the broadest range of issues of bilateral relations and on key issues of the international agenda," Naryshkin told the RT television channel, stressing that topics of regional and global security were the most important.
The official stated that questions of economic bilateral cooperation were also discussed.
"I see a very big potential for cooperation, let alone mutual sympathy of our peoples," Naryshkin added.
Last year, Cairo and Moscow agreed to increase military, trade, security and economic cooperation.
