European sanctions imposed against Russia have no logic or adequate reasons. As a result, the European Union itself is suffering from the current situation, British MP George Galloway said.

According to Galloway, anti-Russian sanctions have negatively affected the EU. There is no logic in introducing such restrictive measures, he said in an interview with the Latvian radio Baltkom.

"As a result, the European Union itself is suffering because of this situation with Russia. There is no logic in it," Galloway said.

According to the politician, the sanctions should be introduced against individuals who commit crimes, for example those responsible for Alexander Litvinenko's death.

Moscow Pessimistic About EU Scrapping Anti-Russia Sanctions by Summer
"We have the whole case here in the UK, which provides for certain sanctions against Russia. However, overall sanctions would harm only Britain, not Russia. There is no logic or reasons for their introduction," Galloway said.

In 2014, the EU and the US imposed a series of economic sanctions on Russia's energy, banking and defense sectors, citing its alleged involvement in Ukraine's internal affairs. Moscow has denied the allegations.

George Gallow is a British politician, journalist and a member of the British Parliament since 1987. Galloway supported Russian military involvement in Syria saying that " Russia begins the end of the new fascism of Daesh."
