MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to a joint Washington Post and BuzzFeed News investigation, a US intelligence official and other people familiar with British nationals in Syria confirmed Kotey's membership of the group, notorious for torturing and executing western hostages.
The four Britons, nicknamed the "Beatles" by their prisoners for their English accent, are infamous for their particular cruelty, including subjecting the prisoners to regular beatings, waterboarding and mock executions.
Kotey’s whereabouts are currently unknown.
In November, the US Defense Department said that Emwazi was killed in a US airstrike in Syria.
