MOSCOW (Sputnik) — "There is a keen interest on both sides to cooperate in the gas sector, and from Gazprom's prospective, there are exclusively substantive discussions on specific projects of cooperation with our Bahraini partners," Lavrov said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Khalifa met earlier in the day in the southern Russian resort city of Sochi to discuss a wide-range of issues, including those on the bilateral and international agenda.
Russian and Bahrain are looking to deepen their cooperation in the field of energy, among other points. Chairman of the Gazprom Board of Directors Viktor Zubkov, a special presidential representative for cooperation with the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, traditionally maintains close contact with Bahrain by visiting the country annually, since 2010.
The last time Zubkov visited Bahrain was on January, 21. The sides discussed deliveries of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Bahrain.
