"The President [Poroshenko] reassured me of his unwavering commitment to reforms, including improving governance and fighting corruption," Lagarde stated on Wednesday.
The IMF managing director noted the discussion with the Ukrainian president was "constructive."
"We agreed on the principle of a roadmap of actions and priority measures to ensure prompt progress under the program, which will help keep Ukraine on a path toward robust and sustainable growth," Lagarde explained.
Earlier on Wednesday, Lagarde stated that Ukraine risks returning to a pattern of failed economic policies characterized by slow progress in fighting corruption and influence in policymaking, as well as improving governance. She underscored that the IMF financial assistance program to Kiev could not be successful without an effort to implement reforms.
