Syrian opposition figure Qadri Jamil said that the participation of Kurds in the intra-Syrian talks is the main component for the success of negotiations.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — There is a great probability that Syrian Kurds will take part in the next round of Geneva peace talks on Syria’s reconciliation, Syrian opposition figure Qadri Jamil said Wednesday.

"Yesterday there was a clash between the Americans and the Turks about the Kurds, so I think there is a big chance [of their participation]. If we wish success for the negotiations in Geneva, the Kurds, represented by PYD [the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union], is the main component today," Jamil told reporters.

UN Envoy Chooses Not to Invite Syrian Kurds to Geneva Talks
Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, when fighting started between the country’s government and multiple opposition factions (including extremist groups).

The main Syrian Kurdish party was not invited to the UN-backed reconciliation talks between Damascus and the Syrian opposition in Geneva that started on January 29 and were later postponed until February 25.
