MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Telegraph reported earlier in the day that the alliance could deploy "thousands of troops" in the Baltic states and in eastern and southern Europe to "deter" Russia.
"Such measures are impossible to assess based on reports in various media, even in respected media outlets… Therefore, we must first wait for some kind of information that can be perceived as reliable, some official statements on the matter," Peskov told reporters, adding that Moscow has received no official information regarding such NATO plans.
A NATO defense ministers meeting is scheduled to be held in Brussels later in the day.
Russia has repeatedly expressed concerns over NATO's military buildup along its western borders, warning that the alliance's expansion undermines regional and global security.
