"The detention of Russian citizens in Finland at the request of the US authorities raises serious concerns of the Russian side. In 2015, there were four such cases," the ambassador told RIA Novosti in an interview.
According to the diplomat, Moscow has called on Helsinki to take into account that Russians may face politicized and biased "US-style justice," as well as the use of illegal measures of physical and psychological pressure to obtain the necessary evidence.
"If we were talking about the need to curb criminal activities, it would be logical not to search for our citizens in the different countries, and firstly to send relevant information to the country of nationality of a suspect. However, such practice does not exist," the ambassador said.
According to Rumyantsev, in two cases, the Finnish side has extradited Russian citizens to the United States. The third case is still under consideration, while in the fourth case it was possible to agree on the release of a detainee that returned to Russia on December 30, 2015, with the help of the embassy diplomats.
