"Humanitarian assistance until Sunday and a week for the cessation of hostilities. The diplomatic night in Munich revived hopes," Gentiloni posted on Twitter.
The ISSG meeting, held in the Bavarian capital and attended by Russia, the United States and over a dozen other states, resulted in the adoption of a final communique that called for humanitarian access to be provided swiftly to all besieged areas in Syria and set a one-week deadline for measures to be implemented to end the hostilities in Syria.
Syria has been mired in a civil war since 2011, with government forces loyal to President Bashar Assad fighting a number of opposition factions and extremist groups.
ISSG was formed in November 2015 as an international format to resolve the Syrian crisis.
