The containment doctrine is dangerously insufficient: in twenty years the problems will still be unsolved and the world will still be dealing with the same issues, Medvedev explained.

The idea of the caliphate growing out of control was addressed by Medvedev directly.

The world will still be discussing the same issues — if it's still able to as 'it would be impossible to debate issues in a 'World Caliphate,'" he stressed.

"Most of the global challenges didn't emerge overnight. And they were certainly not created in Russia. However we haven't learned to prevent them. That is why we are focusing on dealing with the consequences, not the causes. Or we are concentrating on containing our neighbors instead of fighting the true evil. This subject was discussed here recently, and the containment doctrine is being employed by the West against Russia even today. The problem with this approach is that at this rate we'll keep discussing the same old topics in ten or in twenty years from now on — assuming of course that we'll actually be discussing anything," Dmitry Medvedev said.

The politician hopes, however, it is possible to unite against global threats.
