MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A fire at a Smolensk State Medical University dormitory in western Russia has claimed the lives of two people, an Emergencies Ministry regional spokesperson told RIA Novosti on Sunday.
"Two bodies have been discovered," the spokesperson said.
Around 200 people have been evacuated and the fire has been localized at around 04:37 GMT.
No further details have been reported as to the causes of the incident.
The Smolensk State Medical University has four apartment-type hostels to accommodate over 2,000 students, according to its website.
