MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Two victims of a fire at a Smolensk State Medical University dormitory in western Russia were students from India, the Smolensk region department of the Russian Investigative Committee said in a statement Sunday.
"According to preliminary reports, ignition occurred at the fourth floor of the six-floor dormitory of 'the Smolensk State Medical University' in the morning on February 14, 2016. Two students from India died in the fire," the statement reads.
The investigators carry out the scene inspection and interview witnesses to the incident, according to the statement.
According to the regional Emergencies Ministry, about 200 people have been evacuated from the building.
