ANKARA (Sputnik) – "We are against all decisions which could plunge Turkey into war," Kilicdaroglu said on his Twitter account.
Kilicdaroglu reminded that Davutoglu called on his party to pick its side.
"Davutoglu is the one who must pick sides, he calls for supporting [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan’s foreign policy interests, not the Turkish interests," Kilicdaroglu continued.
On Saturday, Davutoglu said Turkish forces shelled Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) positions in northern Syria as a retaliatory measure within rules of engagement. The attacks continued on Sunday.
Ankara considers the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) to be an affiliate of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), an organization seeking Kurdish independence that has fought the Turkish state since 1984.
A ceasefire between Turkey and PKK collapsed in July 2015, prompting Turkish authorities to launch a military operation in the Kurdish-dominated southeastern regions.
