Moscow has no plans to create an alliance with Syria, Iran and Hezbollah, a Russian Foreign Ministry official said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The statement made by the Iranian Supreme Leader’s top adviser, Ali Akbar Velayati, on the creation of an alliance between Russia, Iran, Syria and Hezbollah is speculative and there are no plans of creating such an alliance, Russian Special Presidential Envoy on Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov said.

“This is a statement that principally calls for various interpretations, as happened with the reaction to my statement on the Taliban. I said that the Taliban, who are fighting [Daesh] militants in Afghanistan falls into line with our interests [of fighting Daesh]. Objectively, we are fighting those who are being fought by Hezbollah in Syria," Kabulov told RIA Novosti in an interview.

"This is a speculative union. We’re not talking here about a union, in which the sides sit around a table and begin discussions. In the hypothetical sense, he’s correct: if Hezbollah is doing what we’re doing, then we are principally allies.”
