MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the agency's statistics report, 74 percent of the attacks were carried out in the West Bank, 16 percent in Jerusalem and the remaining 10 percent within the Green Line separating Israel from the West Bank.
The report reveals that 71 percent of the attacks were conducted by Palestinians of up to 25 years old, while 37 percent of the attacks were conducted by terrorists aged between 16 and 20 years old.
The Israeli Security Agency informs that nearly 200 attacks were carried out by men.
The current wave of violence has already left several hundred people dead. Most of the victims are Palestinians who have been killed during knife, firearm and car attacks on Israelis. A total of 31 Israelis and one US citizen are estimated to have been killed in clashes with Palestinians since October 2015.
Palestinians seek recognition of their independent state, proclaimed in 1988, on the territories of West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.
Most of the areas claimed by the State of Palestine were seized by Israel in 1967 during the Six-Day War. The Israeli government refuses to recognize Palestine as an independent state. Israel has continued to build settlements in the occupied territories, prompting condemnation from the United Nations.
