PARIS (Sputnik) — The investigation centers on a scandal involving Bygmalion PR company, which has allegedly falsified Sarkozy's election campaign bills in order to skirt around France's strict candidate's spending limits.

The scandal surrounding Bygmalion emerged in spring 2014, when lawyer Patrick Maisonneuve publicly acknowledged the fact of fraud and stated that the unlawful manipulations with accounts.
Four former Bygmalion executives have been put under investigation for alleged political financing affairs since the 2012 campaign.
