WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US President Barack Obama will visit Cuba on March 21-22 in a first official visit since 1928, the White House said in a blog on Thursday.

“On March 21–22, President Obama and the First Lady will visit Havana, Cuba,” the White House said.
The US President will meet Cuban President Raul Castro as well as the country’s civil society representatives during his trip, White House Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes announced on Thursday:
“That will be the President’s message on his trip - where he’ll have the opportunity to meet with President Castro, and with Cuban civil society and people from different walks of life,” Rhodes said in a White House blog.
