MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Board will convene in Washington on Friday morning to formally appoint Lagarde, as she is the only candidate to take the post of the IMF chief, the French newspaper L'Opinion reported.
Lagarde, 60, the former French Economic Minister, has been heading the IMF since 2011, when then Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn decided to leave his post under the yoke of the allegations on sexual harassment. If Strauss-Kahn did not leave, his term would have expired in 2012.
