MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) survey revealed that more people currently believe in the Russian military’s combat readiness than anytime in the last 15 years, according to sociologists.
The poll also showed that for 88 percent of Russians, a strong army was a top priority, while one in two of those surveyed called for the army’s impact on society to be increased.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu enjoys the approval and trust of some 85 percent of Russians, according to the survey.
The poll was conducted at the end of 2015 and involved the participation of 1,600 people in 130 settlements.
