Turkey Targets Kurds With New Airstrikes in N Iraq After Ankara Blast

Turkish Air Forces have conducted a series of strikes on Kurds positions in Northern Iraq, the Turkish General Staff stated.

“Yesterday, two hours after the terrorist attack in Ankara, [Turkey] conducted an air operation in Haftanin, Northern Iraq; the operation lasted one hour. The operation targeted a group of 60-70 people, including the leader of the PKK,” the statement read.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, accused by critics of an increasingly authoritarian style of government, has argued that the country would be better served by a strong presidential system - Sputnik International
'Kurdish Issue' Urges Washington to Reconsider Relations With Ankara
The operation took place several hours later the terrorist attack in Ankara.

Yesterday, the explosion took place at a military housing complex near the Turkish parliament building in Ankara. A fire then broke out at the site of the explosion. At least 28 people were killed and over 60 were injured.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu cancelled his visit to Brussels in the wake of the attack.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast so far.
