MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The start of Moscow's air campaign against Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) terrorists operating in Syria was a historic move that would change the outcome of the Syrian conflict, Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) leader Nayef Hawatmeh said Friday.
"Russia's involvement in the battle in Syria is a great step that changed the fate of the region," Hawatmeh stated at a press conference in Rossiya Segodnya press center in Moscow.
On Thursday, the DFLP leader said that the deployment of Russian combat aircraft in the Arab republic has renewed the push to seek political solutions to the ongoing Syrian civil war.
On September 30, Moscow commenced airstrikes in Syria against Islamic State and the Nusra Front, both outlawed on its territory, at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
