MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Iran intends to conduct test-fire of indigenuously manufactured missiles within a month, the chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said Sunday.
"The purpose of the training exercises is to test missiles and equipment that every two months should be subject to inspection," Hassan Firouzabadi said, as quoted by the local IRINN broadcaster.
He did not provide information about the type of missiles due to be tested.
In January, the US Treasury Department sanctioned 11 entities and individuals, including six Iranians and one Chinese citizen, over their involvement in procurement on behalf of Iran’s ballistic missile program.
The move came after media reported that Iran tested a surface-to-surface Emad (Pillar) missile in October in violation of a UN Security Council resolution.
