MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Israel’s Border Crossings Authority and the Shin Bet security agency foiled a recent attempt to smuggle commercial unmanned aerial vehicles into the Gaza Strip, Israeli media reported Sunday, citing officials.
The camera-equipped drones aboard an Israeli truck carrying toys were designated to be used by "terrorist elements in Gaza" to gather intelligence on the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) movements, according to The Jerusalem Post.
The paper cited other unsuccessful attempts to smuggle commercial drones into Gaza in recent weeks, which a joint task force of Israeli intelligence and law enforcement services is working to intercept.
An investigation was said to be launched to track down the smuggling network behind the foiled attempt to deliver drones into Gaza.
