WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On February 18-19, US and EU representatives met in Brussels to discuss the possibility of concluding an agreement on prudential measures related to insurance or reinsurance.
"Both sides agreed to move forward efficiently and expeditiously and affirmed their good faith pursuit of an agreement on matters relating to group supervision, exchange of confidential information between supervisory authorities on both sides, and reinsurance supervision, including collateral," the statement said.
According to the statement, the US and EU representatives agreed to engage in a "meaningful stakeholder consultation."
In November, the Treasury Department and the US Trade Representative’s office announced their intention to begin negotiations with the EU on improving supervision over insurers and reinsurers operating on both sides of the Atlantic.
