MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The press service confirmed to RIA Novosti via email that the hearings had begun, but refused to provide further details related to the case.
In October 2014, Rosneft filed the lawsuit, which included nine legitimate claims over the EU Council decision, under which economic restrictions were imposed on Rosneft, as well three of its subsidiaries in July.
In particular, Rosneft indicated that the Council failed to provide sufficient evidence for its action, which violates the right to judicial protection.
Initially, the sanctions were initiated by the United Kingdom in 2014, over Russia's alleged involvement in the Ukraine crisis, and Russia appealed the decision. In February 2015, the High Court of London ruled that the Rosneft's lawsuit against the sanctions should be considered in the European General Court.
