BERLIN (Sputnik) — The affected products have expiration date between June 19, 2016 and January 8, 2017, the chocolate company said in a statement.
Germany’s Handelsblatt newspaper cited a Mars spokesperson who said the recall was "voluntary." The total volume of products taken off the shelves has not been revealed.
"For us, a total recall of products is currently the absolute priority," the spokesperson told the outlet. "We cannot give any details on the number of affected products yet."
Mars runs a factory in the western German district of Viersen in North Rhine-Westphalia.
