MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A hostage situation which occurred at a restaurant in central London late on Wednesday has been resolved, the Metropolitan Police said.
"The incident at a restaurant in Irving Street has now been resolved and a man has been detained by police. No reported injuries," a statement on the official Twitter page of London’s Metropolitan Police Service says.
Earlier, the police said that it received a call at 20:50 local time on Wednesday (20:50 GMT) reporting a man holding a woman against her well at the restaurant.
The Metropolitan Police stressed that the incident was not terrorist related.
RT reported that the hostage taker was allegedly a former employee of the Bella Italia restaurant.
