MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Monday, US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced an agreement on cessation of hostilities between the Syrian government of President Bashar Assad and the armed opposition factions had been reached. The agreement will come into force on February 27.
"The agenda of the meeting included issues related to the implementation of a joint Russia-US agreement on cessation of hostilities in Syria," Peskov told reporters.
Russia and the United States are the co-chairs of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG). The agreement has been approved by the other 17 members of the ISSG.
