MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, a member of the Syrian opposition delegation formed after meetings in Moscow and Cairo told Sputnik that the talks were postponed until March 1 as the High Negotiations Committee (HNC) opposition threatened to boycott the next round.
However, the HNC, which is backed by Saudi Arabia, told Sputnik later in the day that it will take part in the next round of the peace talks in Geneva.
“We have no new date for the talks yet,” Chahine said.
Syrian peace talks were expected to restart in Switzerland on February 25 after the previous round failed in Geneva on February 3.
