"Acting on specific information that a Pakistani fidayeen terrorist has made entry into Baramulla town, police along with CRPF and Army men launched multiple operations in and around Baramulla in north Kashmir," a police spokesman said as quoted by The Times of India.
Using an Arabic term referring to military groups willing to sacrifice themselves, the police identified the arrested Jaish-e-Mohammed member as Mohammad Sidiq, a resident of the northeastern Pakistani city of Sialkot. His accomplices were identified as Suhail Arif Ganaie, Rashid Rasool Bhat, Javaid Ahmad Dhobi, Farhan Fayaz Liloo and Ehsan Fayaz Lillo.
India's official spokesman at the Ministry of External Affairs, Vikas Swarup, said on Thursday that the country would seek the UN Security Council to add Jaish-e-Mohammed leader Masood Azhar to its sanctions list.
New Delhi suspects the terrorist group, banned in Pakistan but still operating several facilities in the country, for a January 2 attack on the Pathankot air base in India near the Pakistani border where three of its servicemen were killed.
