MOSCOW(Sputnik) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday that strict Syrian border controls are key to the success of the recently agreed truce.
"The success of the implementation of the agreement on cessation of hostilities will depend on the ability of the international community to implement existing decisions, including UN Security Council resolutions 2199 and 2253 on cutting terrorist flows to Syria from abroad, ending the smuggling of oil and other goods providing IS with finances," Lavrov told reporters.
He underlined that these resolutions envision the establishment of "strict controls of Syria's borders."
