MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Iraqi forces repelled the rerrorists' attack on two western suburbs of Baghdad, the Joint Special Operations Command said on Sunday.
"Security forces stopped the Daesh attempt to attack Abadi and Heitaoyen in the western part of territories belonging to the Baghdad command," it said in a statement published on its Facebook account.
Two suicide bombers and an undisclosed number of militants have been killed during the shootout, the command said, adding that the situation was under control.
The areas are less than 10 miles west of Abu Ghraib, the site of a prison where US troops abused Iraqi prisoners during the mid-2000's War on Terror.
