BERLIN (Sputnik) – The truce was announced by Moscow and Washington last Monday and was upheld by the main rival forces in Syria the next day. The UN-designated terrorist groups are not part of it.
"One can say that the ceasefire regime is mostly holding. Generally speaking, hostilities have been significantly limited, although according to news agencies and our officials, including in Geneva, all sides have complained of ceasefire violations," deputy spokeswoman Sawsan Chebli said.
The truce has been backed by the UN Security Council, which adopted a resolution on Friday, shortly before the ceasefire came into force, calling on countries that have influence on Syrian warring parties to ensure that all commitments are fulfilled.
