The Zodiac Killer is a still unidentified serial killer who was active in Northern California in the late 1960s and early 70s. There have been five murders confirmed to have been committed by the elusive killer, but he claims to have killed 37. He earned his nickname after sending letters and taunting cryptograms to the media, only one of which has been definitively solved.

The deciphered cryptogram read as follows:
“I LIKE KILLING PEOPLE BECAUSE IT IS SO MUCH FUN IT IS MORE FUN THAN KILLING WILD GAME IN THE FORREST BECAUSE MAN IS THE MOST DANGEROUE ANAMAL OF ALL TO KILL SOMETHING GIVES ME THE MOST THRILLING EXPERENCE IT IS EVEN BETTER THAN GETTING YOUR ROCKS OFF WITH A GIRL THE BEST PART OF IT IS THAE WHEN I DIE I WILL BE REBORN IN PARADICE AND THEI HAVE KILLED WILL BECOME MY SLAVES I WILL NOT GIVE YOU MY NAME BECAUSE YOU WILL TRY TO SLOI DOWN OR ATOP MY COLLECTIOG OF SLAVES FOR MY AFTERLIFE EBEORIETEMETHHPITI”
The first mention of Cruz being the Zodiac Killer came in 2013, when he spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference against the Affordable Care Act. His speech was titled, “This Is The Zodiac Speaking.”

While it may be true that Cruz was born in December 1970, in Alberta, Canada, making it difficult for him to have committed the murders — which occurred primarily in 1968 and 1969 — the Internet is still not convinced.

One activist is even selling “Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer” t-shirts, with proceeds going to a non-profit organization in Texas that aids women in getting safe abortions — he has already raised over $35,000 from the sale of the shirts.
