MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Earlier on Tuesday, a source told Sputnik that Daesh had executed 8 Dutch members of the terrorist group near its stronghold of Raqqa on suspicion of intention to desert.
"We have seen all these reports, but we cannot confirm this yet. We cannot say what is the situation on the ground," Edmond Messchaert said.
The jihadists also reportedly ordered 66 other Dutch fighters to be captured and imprisoned in Madan and Tabqah, to the northwest of Raqqa.
According to Messchaert, there was no confirmation of these allegations either.
The National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism is a branch within the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice.
Daesh is a violent militant group responsible for killing civilians and taking foreigners hostage. It has been designated by the UN as a terrorist group and outlawed by Russia and many other countries.
