The Al Jazeera journalist quoted reports by the human rights organizations accusing Kiev forces and volunteer battalions of involvement in torture, abductions and other crimes against civilians in eastern Ukraine.
"I don’t know where this information comes from. I come from Ukraine," the former heavyweight boxing champion answered.
The mayor also said that fighters of the Azov nationalist battalion were not engaged in fighting in Donbass. In his turn, the journalist said foreign media, particularly US media, has reported about Ukrainian fighters in Donbass with swastikas on their trucks.
Klitschko answered that he did not see any swastikas in the Donbass conflict.
"We defend our territory, we defend our country," he repeated throughout the interview.
Klitschko has become famous, especially on the Internet, for a number of absurd statements he has made during his political career. Most of them can hardly be translated from Russian to English without losing their meaning.
