WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The airstrikes conducted in Syria on Monday targeted Daesh fighting positions, mortar systems, vehicles, vehicle borne improvised explosive device and buildings throughout five Syrian cities.
“In Syria, coalition military forces conducted 12 strikes using attack, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL [Daesh] targets,” the release said.
In Iraq, the coalition launched two dozen airstrikes on Monday against Daesh tactical units, mortar and fighting positions, staging areas as well as destroyed bunkers and blocked off access to terrain in and around eight Iraqi cities including Mosul, Ramadi, Tikrit and Fallujah.
“Additionally in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 15 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq using attack, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL [Daesh] targets.”
Despite the ceasefire, the US coalition and Russia have both vowed to continue airstrikes against Daesh and al-Nusra Front terrorist groups, which are not included in the ceasefire deal.
