WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US has provided over $266 million in military equipment and training to Ukraine since 2014, with current US defense budget allocating $300 million in 2016.
The Ukrainian Embassy in the United States said in December that Washington had increased its assistance to $658.1 million, including logistical support, training and defense weapons deliveries.
"I would call on the administration to support Ukraine and to take up [EUCOM’s] recommendations and to act with some urgency here," Senator Kelly Ayotte said of EUCOM Commander Gen. Philip Breedlove’s advice to provide lethal weapons to Ukraine.
However, the United States has ruled out delivering lethal weapons to Ukraine on grounds that Kiev is capable of manufacturing lethal equipment independently.
