CAIRO (Sputnik) – "At the end of March we are planning to prepare a systems project, which is a top-level document that describes how various systems are connected with each other. Based on the experience of the [2013] Universiade in Kazan and the [2014] Sochi Olympics we are drafting a corresponding systems project for the World Cup," Nikiforov said.
Speaking on a working visit to Egypt, the Russian minister expressed confidence that the project would be completed by the March 31 deadline.
President Vladimir Putin and members of the country's government plan to convene a meeting on Wednesday to discuss preparations for the 2018 World Cup and the 2019 WorldSkills championship.
The Ministry of Communications and Mass Media said in November it launched a unified info-telecommunication infrastructure project across 11 regions ahead of the championship.
The project aims to provide telecommunications networks, telephony, Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) communications and services for broadcasters during the competition.
In collaboration with the Organizing Committee Russia-2018 and regions, the ministry is responsible for providing fixed communication lines, videoconferencing, professional radio and satellite communication and cable television at the World Cup.
