MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Matvienko said that the agreement hammered out by the United States and Russia on the cessation of hostilities was hard to underestimate.
"The observation of the cessation of hostilities agreement is a very difficult process, but its first results inspire certain optimism. Though there is a certain resistance to the agreement, approximately 100 civilian organizations have already announced a ceasefire," Federation Council Speaker Matvienko told journalists.
"This is a breakthrough agreement of two states," Matvienko added.
She said that Russia would apply pressure on those not willing to conform to the agreement.
"I hope that Russia has enough resources to apply pressure on those who resist to observe the truce in Syria," she said.
