WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Last week, Turkey's Constitutional Court ruled that the arrest of the journalists Can Dundar and Erdem Gul constituted a violation of their rights. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday he would not respect the court’s decision, accusing the journalists of espionage.
"We welcomed frankly the court ruling that ended the pre-trial imprisonment of these two [journalists], one was editor-in-chief and the other was a bureau chief, and we are going to continue to follow their case closely," Toner stated.
