WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Republican Party controls both chambers of the US Congress — the House of Representatives and the Senate — and has tried to block most major measures Obama has proposed on issues such as gun control while repeatedly trying to repeal his Affordable Care Act, Schultz noted.
"For years, the Republican Party has created a vacuum in Washington by neglecting their own responsibilities to govern," Schultz told reporters according to a regular press pool report.
Congressional Republicans fear that if Trump becomes the Republican presidential nominee, they will lose control at least of the Senate and possibly of the House of Representatives in a landslide defeat in the US presidential and congressional elections in November.
